What is the Steam Asset Size Checker?

This tool shows the required pixel dimensions for Steam store and library image assets — capsules, screenshots, icons, and more — and lets you upload your own image to check whether it meets them.

How to Use

Choose the asset type you want to check.
Drag and drop an image, or click to select one.
The tool compares your image's actual size against the required size and shows the result.
Changing the asset type re-checks the same image automatically.

Example

Upload a 920×430px image while "Header Capsule" is selected, and you'll see "✓ Size OK." Upload an 800×400px image instead, and you'll see "✗ Size Mismatch," along with the required size (920 × 430 px) for comparison.

Using This in Game Development

Check your assets before uploading them to Steamworks to avoid a size-mismatch error during submission. It also doubles as a quick reference table when you have several different-sized assets prepared and need to know which one goes where.

Notes

This tool only checks an image's pixel width and height. It doesn't check file format (PNG/JPG/ICO), file size limits, or Steamworks' content review guidelines. Always double-check the official Steamworks documentation before your final submission. Library Logo isn't included in this checker, since Steam fits that transparent logo within a bounding box rather than requiring an exact canvas size.

FAQ

Can I upload an image larger than the required size?

Exact-size assets like the Header Capsule or Main Capsule must match the required dimensions precisely. Only Screenshot uses a "minimum size" rule.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. All image processing happens in your browser, and the image you select is never sent to a server.

Could this differ from Steam's current requirements?

Steamworks' specifications can change over time. The sizes shown here reflect what was accurate when this tool was written, so always confirm with the official documentation before submitting.
